07102018 – Run

This morning was a humid and buggy run.  The temperature wasn’t too bad, but I started sweating almost immediately!  Today’s workout was a 5×400 with only 1:45 rest between each.  The shorter rest definitely accumulated.  I also felt some soreness from CrossFit and biking yesterday in the quads.

The intervals were:

I ran into a patch of goats (this is an old story) that are used to help with invasive plants.  And a bunch of horse flies and other bugs that wanted to carry me away! The last interval had me cross Glenwood and onto pavement.

Total 4 miles in 41:31.

07072018 – Run

Another fun run with Morgan and Amber (puppy). More trails for us and this was Morgan’s longest ever continuous run!  We did my normal-ish perimeter loop around Wirth and got in 4 miles.  It was a nice morning to run before we took a day trip up North.  The plan called for 2 5K’s spread out one in the morning and one in the afternoon. But we did this 4 mile run and did some hiking at Gooseberry.

06282018 – Run

I’m behind in posting updates again so I’m not sure how much I’ll remember from this run! I did forget to start the run as an interval workout again so I had two Strava entries… one for the warm-up and one for the rest!  The workout was a 4x800m with 2:45 rest in between.  The only thing I remember is that when I got home I pulled a tick off my shin.

06262018 – Run

The weather finally got me! After several workouts where I got it done between storms, I finally got rained on today! No big deal really as the storms were past and just the rain was left.  Everything was really soggy though so I opted for a mostly paved trail run today. The only part that wasn’t paved was muddy!

In the woods it is hard to know if it is raining or just water falling off the trees, but it was definitely raining as I started off for a 5 x 400m workout with 400m rest in between.  I wasn’t sure of the route, but the route I chose ended up being the perfect distance. Here are my splits:

I’m not too happy about the range in times as there wasn’t any real hills, but its all good.

06242018 – Run

On the docket today was a 4 mile run at 80% of 10K pace.  I haven’t run a 10K recently so I just opted for 4 hard miles. I finally figured out how to use the Lap Key button on my Garmin Forerunner 35.  You have to change a setting, why it isn’t a default setting I don’t know.  But somehow I still messed up and really only ran 3 hard miles.  But my overall run was 4.87 miles so I ran the distance just not necessarily the right pace.

The 3 harder miles were 9:50, 9:53, and 8:55 (28:38).  I felt really sluggish from the go so I’m not surprised by the slower times.
