Today was my first day back to work after winter break. And also the first day of doing 75 Hard while working. I fell behind on the water consumption. Don’t worry, I got the gallon done. It was also hard as people brought snacks to share and they were everywhere!
Day 5
It is a little challenging to find time for the second 45 minute session!
Day 4
One of the caveats of two 45 minute workout sessions is that one has to be outside. Choosing to do 75 Hard in the winter in MN is an extra challenge. It was 10 degrees this afternoon when I went out for my ruck. It was sunny though so that really helped. I’m currently using a 12# vest for my walks. Turning them into a ruck gives it a little extra workout feel.
Enjoyed some wild ice on today’s walk! I was a little nervous because a fall on the ice could be bad for my recovery but we managed well!
Day 3
I first started thinking about doing 75 hard during the fall. I thought it would be a good way to jump start my training for Ironman 70.3 Mussellman in July. I did a little research and it seemed like something that would be do-able.
Then, I got a concussion during an orienteering race in mid-November. Well more likely I made it worse 2 days later doing a workout with Devils Press in it. Talk about brain rattling. And then waiting almost a week to start concussion protocols. But I digress.
It has been a long recovery. I’ve run once since then and it didn’t go well. Since that run I’ve been slowly increasing activity and trying to do things that don’t make my head move (upper body, bike trainer etc). I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do the 2 – 45 mintue workouts daily.
A co-worker who did 75 Hard pointed out that all the workouts don’t need to be hard sufferfests. So I’m planning to incorporate yoga and walks (rucks) as some of my workouts. I’ve found that classic skiing has been okay for me head. As long as I don’t fall!!
Here’s a pic from my chilly ski this morning:
Day 2
A gallon of water is a lot to drink! I had to get up in the middle of the night! I finished my gallon earlier in the day today so hopefully that doesn’t happen again.
