Day 60

Happy March!

In the home stretch now!  I went to V3 in the morning and did the 5/3/1 for bench and shoulder press which with warmup ended up taking the entire 45 minutes. I also signed up for a 30 day yogalaties program which combines yoga and pilates. That will be an interesting challenge! Today was just a 5 minute core fitness check (which was challenging). After all that I swam for a little bit. I did some warmup then 5×50 and 5×25.

In the afternoon I took my Pilot for an oil change and did a 4 mile walk. There is a park nearby that I’ve biked around so it was a change in pace to walk around it!

Day 49

Another brutally cold morning. And another cold day off from school. So I went back to V3. I did some yoga and it took me a little bit to figure out what workout to do but I opted for one that had squats, thrusters, and I modified to bike instead of run. The workout took about 30 minutes. But I had also planned on swimming so even though I was pushing an hour already I went down to the pool.

I decided that my body was already warmed up and jumped into the TriDot swim assessment. I did it in the wrong order and without enough rest, because I couldn’t remember! I did 200m – 2 min rest – 400m. It’s supposed to be 400m – 10 min rest – 200m.

I also used a swim snorkel and didn’t push off the walls, so it was 25m lengths with a short pause.  My times were 4:47 and 8:18. Not too bad for where I’m at currently.

Enjoy this pic from my afternoon walk.

Day 46

It was a beautiful day for an afternoon ski! But in the morning I went to V3 again and did the Bench 5/3/1 workout and did some swimming. I brought my swim snorkel and did a few lengths without needing to do any side breaths. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

Day 40

Today actually ended up being busy and Street Parking through out a rucking challenge so that kind of shifted my plans.

I waited until the temp was above 0f and then did a 2.5 mile ruck with a 20# pack. It was the Street Parking Super Pup Ruck! So I took Daisy too!

Then in the afternoon I went to V3 for some lifting (did the 5/3/1 bench press) and then tried swimming for the first time post-concussion. I ended up doing 400m total, but it was 1 length at a time. And I only did a few of those as front crawl. I think it went okay. So I’ll try to get back again sooner than later to see!  I think my chest might be sore though!

01152020 – Swim

It’s been awhile since I’ve been in the pool. My shoulders already felt a little sore from yesterday so I didnt want anything super intense but needed to get in the water. I ended up doing a 100m warmup and then 50m with paddles, 50m free, 50m with kick board and then 200m. I worked up in 100m increments to 400m.

I’ve never used paddles before so that was interesting. I will need to do some research on using them to make sure I do it right. The 50m right after felt super smooth!

I ended up with 1300m total over the workout, plus the 200m with the kick board that my watch never picks up.
