Loading Up & Moving Out

We are loading up the moving truck tonight and will begin our caravan to Minneapolis where new adventures await.  It has been a crazy last few weeks packing and visiting friends and family.

We are excited to finally be moving but are sad to be saying our goodbyes.

If you think about it in the next few days say a prayer for traveling mercies and blessings as we begin to get settled in to life in Minneapolis.

Thanks! Posting will be a little light for the next few days.

 Yesterday’s Workout

I hit the bike again for 25 minutes, because that was the length of the endurance program I selected.  I was able to complete 7.8 miles in that amount of time.  This program was a long slow uphill battle! I decided to maintain my cadenance or RPM in the 95 area.  I was able to do that!

Best of 2007: Top 5 Most Read Articles

I began Run Central Indiana in May of 2007, when I created Team Cross Runs I brought all the old content with me. The below rankings are based on Google Analytics data for RCI from September 1, 2007 until today!

The Top 5 Articles in 2007 are:

  1. Volunteering at the Chicago Marathon – this was by far the post read post as I recapped my perspective as a volunteer at the second aid station of the now infamous 2007 Chicago Marathon.
  2. Ways to Ruin Your Next Race – looked at 10 great ways to ruin your next race and then I confessed to ruining some of my race!
  3. Caffeine – A Banned Substance – Did you know that too much Caffeine could disqualify you from Olympic competition? I didn’t either, but see what I found.
  4. T-Shirt Etiquette – is a comical look at some unspoken rules about race t-shirts. I highlighted some of my favorites from a longer list written at Bad Ben Rambles.
  5. Indy Classic Marathon Date Changed – I’m a little surprised this made it so high on the list, but the Indy Classic had a lot of trouble with getting their race off the ground this year – ultimately canceling it.

Thanks for stopping by in 2007 and I hope you’ll keep stopping by in 2008.

Yesterday’s Workout

Since I hadn’t worked out Monday or Tuesday I combined today’s cardio exercise – 30 minutes on the elliptical – with my upper body workout. I did a full 15 minutes of the elliptical backwards which isn’t easy and am a little sore! I also think that you have a good upper body workout when you have trouble raising your hands to your head to wash your hair! Christy joined me at the gym today also doing 30 minutes on the elliptical.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new site. Many of you knew me as Anderson Runner at Run Central Indiana. Well I moved for a job and am no longer living in Central Indiana. I should have known better than to create a blog with a place name in it!!

I guess when I started, it was just for fun and informational purposes for fellow runners. Now as I’m moving I want to keep writing about running. There are lots of great sites in the blogosphere that deal with running, so I’ll be honest and say that many of them are better, smarter, and better researched than mine. But I want to keep writing about my running experiences, running, and life in general. RCI was almost strictly “professional” and became a little more personal as time went on. This blog will be more personal although I’ll still blog about broad-based running topics, with others filling in the remainder of my time.

When I first started RCI in May of 2007, I was in the midst of a job search. I was scouring the countryside for a position that would increase my skills, be challenging, and impactful. That also meant I had lots of free time to research and write my posts. I’m not sure what kind of time I’ll have now that I’m employed again, so we’ll see how this goes!

To those of you who have followed me to this site, thank you and I look forward to continuing our web friendship!

Featured Blog & More

Run Central Indiana site was the featured blog of the week on Phedippidations a running podcast produced weekly by Steve Runner. Click here (mp3) to listen to the whole episode entitled Hard Days. Or you can just click here (mp3) to hear the blurb about Run Central Indiana. I’ve mentioned this self-described goofy little podcast before as well as it being mentioned in Runners’ World awhile back.

Steve and others are also hosting a World-Wide Half-marathon encouraging runners around the world to run a half-marathon on or around October 13-14. The theme is “Think Global, Run Local!” You can join this free event, especially if you are participating in the Indianapolis Marathon’s Half.
