The following race report and pictures were submitted by Tammy Dale from the Nike Team Regional’s.
Dylan Dale running for Fishers Running Club finished 10th overall in the Junior Varsity race with a time of 17:35 at the Lavern Gibson Course in Terre Haute. His team finished second overall, finishing behind the winning team from York, IL the Elmhurst Running Club. (ranked number one in the Midwest Region) The boys varsity finished fourth overall, and are an “at large” candidate for NTN.
Seventh grader Ashley Dale entered the Girls Championship 5K Division, hoping to gain some experience for high school racing – and just for the “fun” of it. She finished the challenging state course in a time of 23:07…not bad having coming off health related issues. She had much fun, and as a note: her time would have placed her third in the Girls JV race, and seventh in the Freshman Class. 🙂
All the athletes were given cool gear from Nike/EastBay included some very sweet gear bags and running caps, and as an added treat for the day, they got to meet and chat with the second place finisher in the US Olympic Marathon trials, Dathan Ritzenhein.
The course records for both girls and boys were shattered with beautiful race conditions on a course Ashley likened to a “roller coaster.”
On another note: the Great Lakes Division I Championships took place Nov. 10th. Notre Dame took third and IU finished in fourth. Freshman, Cole Hardacre was the second scorer for IU! Complete results for both races can be found at www.onlineraceresults.com.
Thanks Tammy!
In other local running news, the Indy Star is reporting that Cindy Harris, 38 from Indianapolis, won the 6th Annual Go Vertical Chicago race up the 103 flights of stairs to the top of the Sears Tower. Harris has won all 6 events. The local stair climbing race is the annual Bop to the Top on February 2, 2008.
Weekend Workouts
I actually haven’t run since Thursday morning! We were at a conference and I didn’t feel like getting up super early to get a run in and our hotel didn’t have any workout facilities. So I had a nice weekend recuperating and resting!
Great job Dales!!! We miss you. Glad to hear your running is going well.
